Wine of the Week

Pinot Noir Blanc 2013 - Niche Wine Co. - Kelowna, BC
Swirl Wine Yaletown - $20.00
My Vivino Score: 4 stars.

This week I bring you a a wine nerd's treat, a Pinot Noir Blanc from BC. This wine is made with 100% Pinot Noir Grapes, but in a white wine style. Meaning there was no contact with the grape skins to add colour, and it was fermented at a cooler temperature. It was also fermented in stainless steel tanks, so no oak flavors, just straight fruit with a nice golden colour.

I had notes of green apple, pear on the nose, and later opened up with a bit of banana and pineapple. On the palate there was some fruit, honeysuckle, and almond. It had a nice medium finish with the aromas and complexities have you coming back for another sip.

A well balanced nice white wine that should pair well with mushrooms and cream based dishes, and also your "white" wine meats like chicken or pork chops. Up your wine nerdiness and try a bottle of of this red grape made as a white.

Available at Swirl wine, Village VQA, and Liberty wine shops; as well as their winery in West Kelowna.
